This innovation was designed and developed to provide solutions to environmental problems related to fashion and the pollution of petrochemical plastics.
Lunettes en coquillage® / Shell Sunglasses®is the result of patented technologies in the field of shell processing and vegetable & bio-sourced combinations.
Our gaze turned to the sea and its co-products with the following line of action: the creation of a new innovative zero-oil material dedicated to eyewear and recovering food waste from the seaside.
Our research work consisted in using marine by-products with very little recovery and renewable energy.
The result is a 100% bio-sourced material made from vegetable oil and marine by-products:
oyster, mussel and scallop shells.
The result of two years of work to find the right supply chain, the right laboratory, define the material and develop it to adapt it to production techniques.
We defend Made in France, its craftsmen, their know-how and our heritage.
Our material is made in Normandy from shells from the French coast and the assembly of our glasses is carried out in the basin of the French eyewear industry: the Jura.
For the first collection, we offer two models with a design with retro lines and simple, timeless and elegant colours.
Because the quality of the lenses must be irreproachable to protect and preserve your eyes from the sun's rays, we have chosen a recognised French manufacturer with certified French production: DALLOZ Créations.
This manufacturer has enabled us to bring together elegance and efficiency, sport, fashion and everyday life.
We offer you 3 types of lenses:
- Fashion: with a gradient treatment, they are all in Category 3
- Fashion & Sport: with a mirror finish. They are all in Category 3 except for the model with mirror pink lenses.
- Polarised: with a light grey mirror Category 3.
At the confluence of two internationally renowned industrial regions: the "Frame Valley" of Morez and the "Plastic Valley" of Oyonnax, DALLOZ Créations has been producing sunglasses for millions of frames throughout the world for almost 40 years.
Certified ISO 9001 since 1998, their products are of higher quality than international standards.
You have the possibility of changing the lenses to bring them to your eyes
by getting closer to your optician!
For the packaging, we called on a Nantes-based artist studio: The Feebles.
Anaël and Gaëtan have been with us since the creation of the brand. It was quite natural that we asked them to work on the packaging for our shell sunglasses.
The result is an ecological and recyclable cardboard packaging.
To protect and transport your sunglasses on a daily basis, we have also provided a printed microfibre pouch made in France. An elegant and graphic pattern adds the finishing touch.
In compliance with legislation, an informative document specifies the legal information relating to the product
In addition to producing in France to support local employment and know-how, reduce our carbon impact and promote product traceability, we are developing an « éco-friendly » approach by supporting eco-responsible, socially responsible and solidarity-based projects.
Friendly Frenchy is committed to the protection of the coastline and the oceans alongside Surfrider Foundation Europe.
To mark the launch of our shell sunglasses®, we are pleased to announce our first collaboration with the creation of two models of Friendly Frenchy X Surfrider Foundation shell sunglasses, the sales of which will be used to finance actions to protect the coastline and raise awareness.
