Anne ROUAT accompanied us in the graphic universe of our new collection of sunglasses called SOLARMOR. This new collection of shell glasses® is handmade in France in direct partnership with the fishing industry. It includes optical glasses and sunglasses.
Each model is associated with an illustration created by Anne in connection with the recycled shell in the frame.

1/ Who are you and where do you come from?
Anne Rouat, graphic designer and illustrator from Bretagne. I grew up in Riec sur Bélon and come from an oyster farming family in the Ria d'Etel, so I probably have a bit of oyster juice in my veins.

2/ Do you have a motto that influences your life?
Creativity is the intelligence that has fun. Einstein

3/ What seduced you in Friendly Frenchy?
There's nothing I like more than oysters in life (I'm overdoing it here, aren't I?) so if I can have them all the way to the end of my glasses, I'm on the verge of happiness. Of course, it will be less for the chickens, but what a great idea to recycle all those shells!

4/  What do you think of our new shell glasses collection?
Sublime (with a weakness for the Cancale)

5/ What is your best spot on the seafront?
Isn't it like a good mushroom spot? Well, ok Goulet Riec, the Aven estuary in Riec sur Belon (a precise rock from where the view is perfect that I'll keep quiet here).
And of course Le Listrec (the land of the oyster in Breton), it's at the very end of the Ria d'Etel, where the lines of the fields merge with those of the oyster beds, where part of my mother's family practises oyster farming.

6/  What is your best travel souvenir?
The sound of the pebbles battered by the waves at nightfall on a beach in South Java (and bim the cliché!)

7/ What is your best culinary memory?
An oyster from Bélon eaten at the bottom of the Drôme at a time when I was wondering what a strange idea it was to settle down so far from the coast. It's life-saving to drink a small cup from its river at the other end of the country...

8/ What's your sound at the moment?
Sonah Jobarteh (Gambian kora player) and Delgrès (Creole Blues).

9/ Can you recommend an artist?
Camille Thibert: a nice Normandy landartist!
Damien Roudeau : notebook artist
Paul Bloas...
Emmanuel Lepage of course

10/ What else do you want to add?
Yialahhh!

A small note that makes sense....:

Laurent, one of the two creators of Friendly Frenchy, spent his holidays on the Listrec river for more than 10 years (at the bottom of the Etel river in the commune of Locoal Mendon).
"Classified Natura 2000, the universe of the Rivière d'Etel immerses us in an exceptional, preserved and timeless environment.
When I was a child, I used to fish for cockles and clams at low tide, sea bass at rising tide and above all dinghy sailing and funboarding by slaloming through the oyster bed stakes when the wind was with us.
If it was dangerous we knew the spot on our fingertips with my brother and Greg our neighbour. The worst was on the high tides, many of the stakes are submerged.... better know!
We were pretty much the only ones to risk it but what a good one !!!
It turns out that Anne's grandfather, an oyster farmer, was living opposite us....
The world is really small ..... "
