Our Friendly Frenchy brand of responsible French eyewear has been selected and will be on display throughout the show.
Based in Brittany on the shores of the Gulf of Morbihan, the founders of the brand, Sandrine Guyot and Laurent Pezé, have succeeded after 3 years of research and development in developing 2 innovative, bio-sourced and recycled materials resulting from patented technologies adapted to the production tools of eyewear manufacturers. The recycled shells used are the result of partnerships with producers, fishermen and players in the French coastal industry.
SHELL GLASSES
Each material is dedicated to a collection with a manufacturing process with specific constraints.
The frames in the Plage collection are manufactured using an almost exclusively mechanical process: injection moulding using a 100% bio-sourced material derived from plant resources that are not used for human or animal consumption. This biosourced and recycled material was launched in 2018 after 2 years of research and development.
The Solarmor collection, labelled "Origine France Garantie" (frame and lenses), is made by hand using a bio-sourced material based on wood cellulose. This material took an additional research and development phase to come to fruition. This collection enhances the excellence of eyewear know-how and is based on historical French know-how. Each rendering is linked to a shell and/or its original environment in a spirit of biomimicry and each frame specifies its origin (Cancale, Trouville, Locmariaquer, Le Cap-Ferret, L'Etang de Thau...).
Through this collection, the brand is also pushing its approach to eco-responsible eyewear with the creation of frames made from scraps from eyewear production and recycled shells.
An avant-garde approach on the market in 2019.
In a circular economy approach, the brand is promoting French know-how, the diversity of our coastline and its resources with Shell Glasses.
To date, Friendly Frenchy mainly promotes oyster, mussel and scallop shells, the most widely consumed and therefore most available shells.
However, we are already working on recycling other resources such as lobster, cockles, abalones or even prawns and clams!
